Top 5 Weak links of modern online shopping

Do you buy most of your home products online? And especially, do you shop online mostly from flipkart? If yes, you need to be extra careful regarding product selection, mode of payment, quality check and last but not least, self satisfaction. Why I am saying this is because very recently, a serious allegation was made on flipkart by a customer that the company sells  stolen products. Eventually, the case was taken seriously by flipkart and dealt with complete lawful prosecution which proved all allegations wrong. Because the said customer was regular flipkart shopper who would shop and return goods showing unsatisfactory reasons. He has been treated accordingly with law.

Well, we all know flipkart's quality of services and I have no aim to degrade or disproportionate its moral and goodwill values. It is the number one online shopping portal in India that offers lucrative deals in almost all festive seasons with discounts, cheapest prices and moreover, gift coupons or vouchers. My point is that, every time a customer can not be wrong. Suppose, an honest customer reports a true case regarding a stolen goods like mobiles, smartphones or gadgets. Since, through IMEI tracking, Cyber Crime Cell officials easily trap and capture the vicitim, who will ensure the life of such a customer? Shall online sellers undertake this responsibility?

Not only flipkart, there are many reputed online shopping sites having a lot of complaints and issues to sort out. My question is, why does the scope for a complaint arise? All online sellers or portals must:

1. Verify and cross check goods for originality and risk free type before packing and despatching.

2. Regularly remain in contact until a customer reports the satisfactory receipt of his desired goods.

3. Since we are shopping in a virtual world without physically meeting or seeing each other, Customers should be provided a written assurance/undertaking of safe, secure and hassle free use of goods from the online sellers, in case anything bad happens. Since the customer pays the total cost of goods in full confidence, he must not fall victim to any stolen case with regards to that goods by any means and suffer.

Safety tips for online shoppers:

1. For complete safety, always select the 'cash on delivery' mode of payment. Don't be in a haste to use your net banking or debit or credit cards. Wait, shop safe and pay safe.

2. If you are receiving your goods via courier or postal mail, always open the pack in front of the courier boy or the post man. Most preferably, keep your video camera of your mobile, smartphone or tablet ready prior to this and shoot all the events for safe return of damaged or old or used products. Keep the video for future safety of the fact that you are true, not a liar.
