Read this article to
know the role of social networking sites and media in the upcoming general
loksabha election polls in 2014 and also to understand why political parties
and leaders are using it more rather than practical physical visits all over
India.
The Indian political parties have warmed up
for the election polls 2014 with the massive use of Social networking sites
like Face book and Twitter. The purpose is to interact with the public in a
quick and fast manner in the short period available so that they can pull the
peoples’ attraction and also their votes.
Well, experts are considering this as a
good strategy to have a healthy competition in the elections 2014 which can be
proved as a game changer if the mass users of social media respond their
favorite leaders over internet. Overall, the policy of going social by the
political leaders seems to be a brilliant strategic timeout which is hoped to
play a catalyst role.
Why political parties are choosing social
media for the elections 2014 as a mode of preaching their messages rather than
practical visits and removing their miseries? Is it well justified? Because the
policy of using social media means parties are less interested in practically
going all over the country and meet the common people of India and help them in
real life to increase their chances of winning election 2014 by pulling their
favors and votes.
The main reasons for using social media and
internet are – [1] Social networking sites are available in the internet for
free. [2] It helps to save a massive expenditure. [3] It is faster and quicker than all other modes in terms of interacting
with followers and supporters without having to talk much. But of course,
computers with internet connectivity are urgently required which are not going
to be that much burden for the party leaders.
Yes, there can
be some good advantages for the concerned political parties and their leaders
from social media. They can seek advices, ideas and remarks from their
supporters and followers easily to rethink and revise their strategies to
ensure success in the mission. Hence, the plan seems to be working at the
moment. Regarding drawbacks or disadvantages, there may or may not be because
it depends upon how they interact with people and answer their queries by
making sure that no unnecessary argument or havoc arises. Otherwise, the whole
scenario of social media will turn into an open battlefield between the public
and their leaders with filthy and absurd comments.
From my point of
view, leaders who are being nominated or already nominated for the Indian
election polls 2014, should visit practically all over India and reach to its
every nook and corner rather than using the social media as a weapon to fetch
popularity. That will make people understand them better and eventually people
will vote for the leader whom they think the most worthy.
