Mid day meal scheme in Indian schools: boon or bane?

Learning and scopes for eating meals – what can be more pleasing for Indian school children? The project has been successfully running in almost all parts of the country. But it is also a fact that in particular states, children do not get proper benefit of this program and as a consequence, they are unable to develop sound health and hygiene. The cause may be mainly infected, spoiled or bad foods prepared for them by the responsible authorities.

Take for example, the recent mid day meal havoc in Chhapra, Bihar. The update says that 22 children have already died and the number may increase. Why so casual or irresponsible in conducting the Government program? Why so careless in storing the raw food items in a safe, non-infectious and healthy place or state?

People slam the Government straightaway and that is too right to some extent. Because if the managing authorities of this program in a school such as Angan Wadi Worker (AWW) and her assistant are not efficient enough to understand the value of this program, they must be suspended immediately. This is my independent opinion as an honest Indian citizen. Next, the families of the victims must be compensated financially with the correct and legitimate amount so that they can run their lives peacefully as long as they live. I say this only for those parents having one child who was studying brilliantly and had arisen the hopes for his parents for a better future. I am sure all of you agree with my remarks.

Well, the final frontier stouts in the end – is the mid day meal program a boon or a bane? My answer will be as follows: yes, it is blessing provided the program is handed over to good and responsible persons of respective schools so that no unexpected danger can cause it to stop. But if the case is like it happened in Bihar, then I would better advise all children to withdraw themselves from eating those foods and a strictest punishment for the guilty authorities.

The latest update confirms that there were some pesticides in cooking items which is concluded by the forensic research team. From this the case is clear and the culprits have to be seriously punished.
