I am sure you have watched many of the horror
films from Hollywood. But have you ever imagined or simply thought of similar
films in Bollywood? Yes, here I am going to introduce you to such a movie which
is the latest from Bollywood and made with all the modern screenshots and super
class technology – ‘Aatma’ by Suparn Verma. First, please take note of its important
casting details as follows:-
Bipasha Basu ………………. as Maya.
Nawazuddin Siddique ……… as Abhay (Maya’s
Husband)
Doyel Dhawan ……………… as Nia (Maya’s daughter)
My ratings ……………. (2.5/5)
In most of the horror films, be it of ghosts or
other similar imaginary characters, we have always fed ourselves with the best
stuffs. But here, the planning, story and action are all correct but what it
lacks that the intensity of presentation and fluency and arrogance in
dialogues.
Well, to be exact, the film is based on a simple
story of revenge which of course includes a series of horror actions and plotting.
What I want to summarize in brief that the film lacks the intensity of fear
factor and action that a horror film must have to a great extent.
The story is like this – Maya is a divorced wife
of Abhay who dies eventually in an accident. His soul (ghost) is trying
repeatedly to haunt Maya because he wants to take back his daughter Nia from
her. In course of the scenes plotted in the film, anyone who tries or simply
laughs at or offends Nia, faces a furious death by her father’s ghost. Then
Maya, when comes to know the fact, makes up her mind to fight with Abhay’s
ghost so as to save Nia’s life. That is what the story is in the shortest
format for you.
But here I don’t mean to write off the hard work
that Bipasha Basu and Nawazuddin have put in. The fact is imperfect dialogues
and expressions make the whole movie imperfect. You can understand my points
better if compare this film with a simple horror film from Hollywood. That is,
when making this type of movies, the director has to think something special
out of the box so that it will be meaningful. At least, the film must deliver a
scary factor perfectly, am I right?
Sorry Mr. Verma, well tried but wish you better
work and luck next time. The movie had to be more fine-tuned which could have
fetched a better whopping revenue for which the crew worked so hard.
