Which of these three nations will you like to see win a Cricket World Cup first - South Africa, England and New Zealand? Which country is the most due for a major ICC trophy? Let us discuss a bit on this topic.
I often wonder why Jacques Kallis fails to win a World Cup? I also lament to see a team with KP (Kevin Petersen) went on to make only the quarterfinals of the 2011 World Cup. Again, when somebody like Brendan McCullum or Ross Taylor fails to lift a major ICC trophy, then it is definitely a worry to think and sort out.
South Africa
The Proteas have had histories of losing crucial World Cup games. Be it the 1999 WC semi final or the 2009 WT20 semifinal, SA never made it to the big stage. For a country, where legends like Gary Kirsten, and Jonty Rhodes are born, it very much late then due to win a World Cup. Come on SA, bring it 2015!
New Zealand
The Black caps have had fun memories of making WC semifinals repeatedly, be it 50 overs or 20 overs. But never made a WC final. Yet this team deserves lot of credit to have risen up to the occasion on more than once. Again, when the question of ultimate honor comes, the team also has a box to tick i.e. win a World Cup.
England
The English have had many near misses in their World Cup campaigns up to date. England made WC finals (50 overs) three times and came out runners up on each occasion. However, this team went on to win the 2010 WT20 held in the West Indies. But still, it is yet to make an everlasting 50 over impact.
Of all these three, I find SA a strong possibility of contenders for the 2015 World Cup in Australia and new Zealand. Again, playing at home, we can't write off NZ easily. In addition to this, England has good record in playing in the Australasian grounds. So, we can expect to see a better fight than the 2011 WC next time around.
